• Emergency crews in Ogle County are on scene of a car fire. It happened this afternoon  on I-39, near Lindenwood Road. Officials say the fire is out and no one was injured. Traffic, however, remains backed up.
  • Auburn High School’s new field house will be environmentally friendly. The school board voted Tuesday night in favor of a $250,000 plan to make the field house more eco-friendly. The board says there was extra money since the bid for the field house was lower than initially budgeted. Some of the improvements will be energy efficient LED lighting as well as terrazzo/quartz flooring. The new field houses at Guilford and East will also have the same eco-friendly upgrades.
  • A new partnership between Rockford’s airport and Rock Valley College has taken flight. They've teamed up to expand RVC’s aviation maintenance technology program. This will allow the rise of a state-of-the-art facility to house course study. RVC says the larger facility will allow them to triple the amount of students in the program.
  • Police say three people near Chicago have been killed. Two of the people were found inside a burning home in Oak Lawn, with the third body being found in a car outside. Investigators say they don’t know what caused the fire, but the roof and floor of the house collapsed.
  • Champaign County will be the second county in Illinois to issue same sex marriage licenses. The county clerk made that decision after a federal judge ruled last week that gay couples in Cook County don't have to wait until June. County Clerk Gordy Hulten announced gay couples can get a marriage license effective immediately. He also stated if the original law is unconstitutional in Cook County, then it's unconstitutional in his county as well.
  • Illinois state police could issue the state’s first concealed carry permits next week. Gun owners began applying for the permits last month with more than 16,000 people filing for the paperwork. Illinois is the last state in the nation to allow people to carry concealed weapons.
  • One of country music's top duos is coming to the Illinois State Fair this summer. Officials say Florida Georgia Line will perform at the grandstand on August 10th. The 2014 Illinois State Fair runs August 7th through August 17th in Springfield.
