• The identity of a Thursday drive by shooting victim has been released.  27-year old Lamario Harvey was shot around four o’clock Thursday afternoon in the 900 block of Woodlawn Ave. The Winnebago County Coroner’s office reports that Harvey died of a gunshot wound of the chest and abdominal region. Investigators are looking for two men in a white sedan that reportedly shot Harvey as he was walking down the street.
  • The relatives of an Illinois man slain during a botched robbery say they fear for their safety after the killer escaped from jail this week. 23-year-old Kamron Taylor shouted at the family minutes after hearing the guilty verdict, threatening them. Taylor escaped before dawn Wednesday from a jail in the eastern Illinois city after beating a guard unconscious,  stealing his uniform and driving off in his SUV. The Kankakee County sheriff has warned the public that Taylor has a weapon and "will not hesitate to use it."
  • 27-year-old Jasmine Fowlers of DeKalb was arrested and charged with two counts of child endangerment after a Sheriff's Deputy says he found the woman's 1-year-old and 2-month-old children alone in her running car. The deputy says he was walking to the courthouse just before 2pm on Thursday when he noticed an unattended vehicle with loud music blaring from it.  As he approached, he noticed the vehicle was running, unlocked, and the two children were inside.
  • A 12-year-old Freeport boy, who suffered what police are calling a grazing shoulder wound, is recovering at home today.  The child was outside a home with adults at 514 S. Chicago when he was shot.The incident was around nine o’clock Thursday night, but police don’t believe the child was the target. There are no suspects at this time. An investigation is ongoing.
