Since 1964 Kantorei has been known as the Singing Boys of Rockford, but starting this upcoming school year, that is all going to change.

Since the Kantorei choir began their purpose has been to provide  "outstanding musical and cultural education" for today's youth, while helping to build character, responsibility and personal growth in each choir member. So, my question now is this; why is such a great mission solely meant for the young boys in Rockford, and not the girls too?

Apparently, I'm not the only person who feels this way. James Marck, the Artistic Director for Rockford's Kantorei choir, recently made a big announcement on the choir's website;

it is with great excitement that I announce that the 2017-18 program year will feature the launch of Kantorei's newest venture: The Singing Girls of Rockford. We invite all students, boys and girls, to audition to become part of Kantorei, bringing Rockford a tradition of choral excellence and music education for over 50 years.

Kantorei of Rockford is now holding auditions for ALL students ages 6 to 18. If interested in auditioning for one of Kantorei's three choirs, you can get more information here.
