Update: The Winnebago County Coroner, Bill Hintz, has confirmed that the victim pulled from Pierce Lake on Monday was a female and her death has been ruled as a suicide; her name and age have not been released.

There's some very sad news that came out of Rock Cut State Park yesterday.

According to WTVO, a call came in for a "suicidal subject" who was seen jumping into Pierce Lake early Monday morning.

Not a lot of information is known at this time except that Loves Park fire officials have confirmed that the body was recovered shortly after 11:15 am.

As we wait to get more information, please remind your friends and loved ones to stay off of lakes and ponds that have been thawing due to the unusually high temps that we've been experiencing the last few days and also, keep the victim and his/her family in your thoughts and prayers.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, please encourage them to reach out to someone; anyone. You are never alone. Take down this number and share it with someone who may be suicidal- 1-800-273-8255; it's free and confidential.
