Officials with the Winnebago County Coroner's office report a continued string of overdose in the area.

According to a press release, there have been ten probable overdose deaths in Winnebago County since January 28. Out of those, nine of them are probable heroin and one is probable cocaine. That information is pending official toxicology results.

Officials say those numbers are not unusual for the area. In fact, according to Eyewitness News, overdose deaths have been increasing steadily in Winnebango County:

In 2010 there were twenty-three heroin deaths and in 2012 that number reached forty-one.

Sue Fiduccia is the Winnebago County coroner and she said, “It’s purer than it's ever been, ever.”

And this year, deaths involving heroin have already hit forty-one in Winnebago County.
