Traffic Ticket Quotas Ended In Illinois

Police departments may no longer be allowed to use traffic ticket quotas to assess the productivity or performance of officers.
State Rep. Jay Hoffman (D-Swansea) sponsored a measure that would put an end to traffic ticket quotas. “This in no way is saying police shouldn't be writing tickets. It simply says that a quota system during a given period of time where you have to write X amount of tickets is no longer allowed,” he said.
Opponents say local governments should be able to make their own rules.
The measure passed both chambers of the General Assembly and is headed to the governor’s desk.
