Have you heard of a mashup? If not, let's quickly turn to Wikipedia to define it for us: a mashup "is a song or composition created by blending two or more pre-recorded songs, usually by overlaying the vocal track of one song seamlessly over the instrumental track of another."

In short, it's mashing similar-sounding songs together to create one new song. Done right it can be quite amazing. And this one is done right.

YouTube user Sir Mashalot has found six of the most popular recent country songs and found striking similarities in them. In this mashup is:

"Sure Be Cool If You Did"- Blake Shelton
"Drunk on You"- Luke Bryan
"Chillin' It"- Cole Swindell
"Close Your Eyes"- Parmalee
"This is How We Roll"- Florida Georgia Line
"Ready, Set, Roll"- Chase Rice

One conclusion from this is, "all country songs sound the same!" But Sir Mashup says you should look at this as more of a tribute:

This Mashup is all in good fun. I am not bashing these songs. I understand and even appreciate why the “formula” continues to dominate the airwaves- not only in country music, but pop and other genres as well. I simply enjoy mixing and producing on Pro Tools, and when I heard the striking similarities of these particular hits, I thought it would be fun to throw them all in a mix and have some fun. And it looks like people are having fun with it too, so I couldn’t be happier.
