The annual “Drive Sober or get pulled over/Click it or Ticket” campaigns have come to a close for this year in Winnebago County. The mobilization ended on Sunday and officials are reporting a successful outcome.

Starting November 17, extra patrols were supported through IDOT in the Stateline region. Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies joined other state and local law enforcement in this end of the year crackdown. During this period seat violations led with 13 citations, below that were 12 citations for uninsured motorists, and 7 speeding citations. Drunk driving fell at the bottom of the list with only 3 arrests.

Sgt. Lipinski of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office says that even though the mobilization is over, officers are out in force all year long to cite passengers breaking the law.
