A Missouri father was not pleased to receive a note sent home from his daughter's school criticizing the contents of her packed lunch. So much so he posted it online:

The problem, as Dr. Justin Puckett points out, is the teacher didn't see the entire contents of the lunch bag. The 8-year-old also had four pieces of ham and low-fat string cheese rather than a sandwich. He refused to sign the letter and instead went to Facebook to post as evidence of what he sees as a growing trend of overreaching by authorities.

WATE-TV reports that a representative for the school district already is saying here's sorry for the incident:

Kirksville, Missouri, school superintendent Damon Kizzire has apologized for the incident and said that the way it’s “being blown out of proportion is way out of line with how it was intended. It was all meant with the best of intentions.”

Dad also has returned to Facebook to provide an update and clarify the story a bit:

1) Without a doubt, the letter was poorly worded, and a poor choice by the teacher. I know this teacher personally, and she has the children best interest in mind.
2) The school took responsibility, as I received a personal apology from the principal and the district superintendent, both people of whom I have a great relationship! I value them both, as well as all educators, greatly.

Have you had a similar letter sent home with your students? My children aren't old enough to be in school quite yet but I imagine I would be just as upset as this father.
