CHICAGO (AP) — The question about the whereabouts of the remains Chicago Cubs great Ernie Banks has been answered.

The Cook County Clerk's office says Banks's death certificate shows Banks was buried at Graceland Cemetery — just a few blocks from Wrigley Field — on February 6.

On Friday, The Associated Press reported there was a dispute between Banks' family and his caretaker over what the family contended was the caretaker's desire to have Banks' remains cremated.

Court documents and interviews made it clear Banks' estranged wife had thus far prevented Banks from being cremated. But the question where Banks was buried remained unanswered as Graceland officials declined to comment.

On Tuesday, clerk's office spokesman Jim Scalzitti says the death certificate shows Banks was buried a week after his funeral.
