Anyone following Chicago sports knows the name of Chet Coppock. But how well do you know the man himself?

Coppock has spent 45+ years covering the Windy City's sports scene. He's worked in radio, TV, print, and digital. He's the godfather of sports talk radio, helping to usher in the format in Chicago. He was a key cog in the greatest radio station of all time, The Loop, along with Jonathan Brandmeier, Kevin Matthews, and Steve & Garry. He was a ring announcer for the WWF. He wears full-length fur coats. And now he's inviting you further into his life with his autobiography, "Laying It On the Line".

I was lucky enough to work with Chet for a little while as our paths crossed at ESPN 1000 in Chicago. He was kind, hard-working, self-deprecating and willing to put up with whatever missteps a young producer might have made while working on his show.

His previous book was a collection of thoughts on the wide world of sports, but this is most certainly a more intimate look at the life and times of a guy that was in the middle of a whole lot of action.
