A BELVIDERE resident will be competing in the 139th Annual Westminster Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show in New York City on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 16-17, 2015.

Kent and Gwen Meyer and their client’s dog, a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier,”ASH”, will be among the more than 3,000 dogs competing in the events of Westminster Week, which includes the iconic all-breed dog show and its 2nd Annual Masters Agility Championship at Westminster.

Ash came to reside at Meyer’s Tails Up Farm last year to complete his Grand Championship.  Ash’s career took off and in October 2014 he won the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier National Championship in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. For Ash’s owner Carolyn Garrett from San Antonio, this was a dream come true.  “Ash is a very special dog, loves being at Meyer’s and I couldn’t ask for better care than what he has with Kent and Gwen Meyer.  They bring out the best in Ash and he loves being with them and loves being a show dog.”

Breed competition in Westminster’s world-famous dog show will be held during the day at Piers 92/94. The evening finals (Groups and Best In Show) will be held at Madison Square Garden and televised live from 8-11pm ET on CNBC, Monday, Feb. 16 and on USA Network on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

The dog show is preceded on Saturday, Feb. 14, by the 2nd Annual Masters Agility Trial at Westminster on Pier 94. For the first time, The Westminster Kennel Club presents AKC Meet The Breeds brought to you by Purina Pro Plan on Pier 92 on Saturday as well, giving Westminster Week a full range of informational and fun dog-related activities.
