Belvidere North's boys and girls cross country teams took first place in this week's NIC-10 Preview cross country meet, topping Hononegah in both instances.

East's Noah Friske won the boys meet with a time of 16:01.5 over the three-mile course. North runners though finished second, fourth and fifth. Hononegah's top runner came in sixth.

Madison Diercks led the Blue Thunder in the girls race, edging teammate Gianna Sagona by fewer than four seconds, 18:05.7 to 18:09.1. Both Diercks and Sagona are sophomores. North runners took six of the top 10 spots.
