A Beloit woman is among 100 winners in a national program honoring those that make a difference through acts of kindness in their communities.

Linn Krafjack has been awarded $1,000 from Jolly Time Pop Corn as part of its "Kernels of Kindness" effort. Krafjack created Operation Ooh-Rah to provide 40-pound care packages to deployed U.S. troops after learning some military personnel wait up to three months to receive personal care items.

Garry Smith, president of Jolly Time, reflected on her efforts:

“I know my great-grandfather, grandfather and father would be proud of Jolly Time’s continued commitment to our community by supporting people like Linn, who makes a difference in so many peoples’ lives by sending these care packages to US troops. In celebration of our 100th birthday, we wanted to extend that commitment to communities across the U.S. We’re very excited to see what $100,000 of good will bring.”

You can find out more about Operation Ooh-Rah on Facebook. It sounds like an absolutely wonderful organization, and one that now has an extra $1,000 to accomplish its goals.
