‘Star Wars: Episode 8’ Director Rian Johnson Shares New Photos From the Set
Okay, before you get too excited, you should know that while these are most definitely new photos from the set of Star Wars: Episode 8, they don’t reveal anything mind-blowing. They’re just a couple of great photos shared by Rian Johnson, featuring a familiar piece of aircraft, a console and a mysterious First Order operative. The director released the photos to celebrate the halfway point in production, which means we’re that much closer to learning more about the upcoming sequel.
Maisie Williams Talks ‘New Mutants’ Rumors, ‘Would Absolutely Love’ to Play Wolfsbane
Just last month, a big rumor suggested that Josh Boone’s New Mutants movie was eyeing Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams and The Witch breakout Anya Taylor-Joy to star in the X-Men spinoff, with Alexandra Shipp in talks to reprise her role as young Storm from Apocalypse. Fox has predictably denied these rumors, Williams herself sorta-kinda confirms it in a new interview, though it sounds like nothing is close to official as of yet.
Warner Bros. Sets 2017 Release Dates for Stephen King’s ‘It’ and ‘CHiPs’
Warner Bros. has announced release dates for two of their upcoming adaptations / reboots, adding both films — along with an untitled mystery project — to their 2017 slate. First up is CHiPs, Dax Shepard’s new action-comedy based on the classic ’80s TV series, starring Shepard and Michael Peña in the leading roles. Next is It, the long-developing and slightly-delayed adaptation of Stephen King’s beloved horror novel, which became the subject of some minor controversy following director Cary Fukunaga’s departure.
‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Won’t Actually Have 67 Characters, But It Will Have More Thanos
Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo previously sent the internet into a slight tizzy when they revealed that their epic two-part Avengers: Infinity War will have something like 67 characters. That would seem like a lot of superheroes, if you took the Russo brothers’ comments literally. And just in case you did, Infinity War scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are here to assure you that’s not actually the case, but there is one character in particular who will be in the film — and he’ll have a much bigger role.
Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart Might Make You Want to See That ‘Jumanji’ Remake
First announced last year, the remake / reboot of Jumanji based on the classic book-turned-adventure film starring Robin Williams seemed like a baffling idea. What could possibly make the average movie-goer excited about this remake? A great cast, for starters, and it looks like we might get just that as everyone’s new favorite odd comedic coupling are in talks to star in the new Jumanji movie.
‘Hail, Caesar!’ Star Alden Ehrenreich Frontrunner to Star as Young Han Solo
After months of speculation and shortlists featuring everyone from Miles Teller to Taron Egerton, it looks like we may have a frontrunner for the role of young Han Solo in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Star Wars prequel / spinoff. Alden Ehrenreich, the charming breakout star of the Coen brothers’ Hail, Caesar! has reportedly emerged as the top pick, edging out his fellow Han Solo hopefuls for the highly-coveted role.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’ Is Definitely Part of Marvel’s Phase 4 Plan
James Gunn is currently in production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so when recently asked if he’d return to direct Guardians of the Galaxy 3, the director seemed uncertain about whether he wants to stick with Marvel or move on to something else. Marvel hasn’t formally revealed any of its Phase 4 films, but we’ve all just assumed that another Guardians sequel is part of that plan — according to Kevin Feige, that assumption is correct.

Original ‘Star Wars’ Print Is Discovered and Restored by Anonymous Group
Back in 1997, George Lucas re-released the original Star Wars trilogy in digitally altered “special editions,” and asserted that these were the only “true” editions of the classic films. The original, unaltered versions became rare — you can find them on VHS, and they are included on a DVD release (though the transfer is poor), and there are some original 35mm prints floating around, but fans have been desperate for Lucasfilm to restore and re-release the unaltered versions on Blu-ray. While we wait for something that may never come, one anonymous group has uncovered an original 35mm print and cleaned it up.
