• A Rockford man has been arrested on drug charges after police executed a search warrant yesterday in the 1500 block of Birch Court. Officials say 25-year old Carter Minniefield was in possession of cannabis and various drug equipment. Police say the suspect currently is on parole.
  • A Stateline area man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to 2nd degree murder. 19-year-old Tronte Picket admitted to shooting a man to death after  fight outside a Rockford  gas station near Swedish-American hospital in June. The person shot dead was 22-year old Jordan Bounsinh.
  • A Loves Park company is expanding. The Connection announced its hiring 250 additional employees.  Many of the spots available are for full-time work and some are temporary. The Connection is a call center with four locations in the U.S.  It's open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Governor Pat Quinn is touting what he calls a successful first year of the affordable care act enrollment in Illinois. Officials say that 685,000 people have enrolled in healthcare plans over the past twelve months. Year two of the Affordable Care Act’s open enrollment period begins Nov. 15.
  • Wisconsin State officials are investigating how a naked man found his way into the Wisconsin state Capitol's rotunda. The man appeared undressed in the rotunda yesterday afternoon and began shouting. A Capitol Police officer quickly led him away. A spokeswoman for the Department of Administration says the man was screaming that he was Jesus Christ.
  • Illinois will make another attempt to sell half of its air fleet. Only two planes received bids by the close of an online auction Monday. Officials will re-list six others on an online site similar to eBay. The new closing date will be in mid-December. Governor Pat Quinn ordered the planes sold to save money.
  • Wisconsin authorities have identified an Illinois man who was killed after a tire flew off an oncoming vehicle and through the windshield of the victim's car. The Wisconsin State Patrol says 55-year-old Mark Bolan of Lombard died Monday in a crash on Interstate 39/90. Authorities say the tire came off an unknown heavy utility truck or trailer.
  • Officials say ridesharing giant Uber will create 420 jobs in the next two years in a major expansion of its Chicago regional headquarters. Governor Pat Quinn says his veto action last month killed legislation that would have set up statewide restrictions on Uber and kept it from expanding. Quinn says his veto allows cities to craft their own regulations for such services.
