• Officials are hoping for a smoother day at Illinois motor vehicle facilities. They're re-opening for business after a computer outage Wednesday that frustrated people trying to renew licenses or get ID cards. Staffers worked with pen and paper and sent some customers home with a card that allows them to come back without having to wait in line.
  • Collisions between cars and deer in Illinois were down slightly last year compared to 2012. Figures released Wednesday show a 1 percent decline in the number of cars hitting deer in 2013. However, the number of people killed in vehicle-deer collisions rose from four in 2012 to six in 2013.
  • Republican Governor-elect Bruce Rauner has met with top Democratic legislative leaders. This morning he met for two hours with House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton. Madigan's spokesman says it was a "productive" meeting. He says Madigan plans to "work professionally" with Rauner and the challenge going forward is the budget.
  • A Rockton High school has upgraded their fitness facilities. Hononegah High School’s cardio lab now features treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes which have the technology to closely monitor student’s progress as they exercise. The school was able to purchase these with the help of a federal grant.
  • A Rock County man has been arrested for drunk driving again.  A witness told police that 61 year-old John Licastro, Jr. was passed out in his car prior to driving out of a parking lot on W. Sunny Lane. He subsequently failed a field sobriety test and was charged with his 6th drunk driving offense.
  • The Illinois Tollway is looking for 70 seasonal toll collector positions to be filled. The jobs run roughly from May 2015 through the end of October of 2015. The positions pay ten dollars an hour and candidates are encouraged to have availability to work shifts at any time of the day.
