• Election officials say there are two days left for regular voter registration ahead of the November 4th election. Illinois residents who have a driver's license or state ID can register on the State Board of Elections website through Tuesday. Regular early voting starts October 20th
  • Boone County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a car crash that left one person dead and another injured. Officers responded to a two vehicle crash on Riverside and Argyle road around 530 yesterday afternoon. One driver died at the scene, and the other has been identified as James Rakuc, who  is currently at a local hospital. Police have not yet released the crash fatality victim’s name.
  • Gas prices are quickly inching lower in the Stateline.  GasBuddy.com reports the average price for gasoline in Rockford is now $3.29/g, which is five cents lower than last week.  It's also one cent lower than the national average. Officials say some of the largest declines are in the Midwest where stations continue to see prices slipping at or below the $3 barrier.
  • Rockford police are investigating a hit and run. Just after 7:00 p.m. Saturday night police say a person was struck by a car near the intersection of North Second street and East State. Officers say that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. There is no word on the condition of the victim. Anyone with information is urged to  contact the Rockford Police Department.
  • A Janesville woman received  her 4th drunk driving arrest while police were searching her home for drugs. Detectives saw Dorrena Warren driving down the street while they were searching her home in the 1300 block of Barham Avenue. Police say they also found several prescription drugs in her home. She faces eight counts for possession with intent to deliver.
  • The Illinois state Agriculture Department says a beetle that's killed hundreds of millions of U.S. ash trees has spread to more Illinois counties. The agency said earlier today that the emerald ash borer is confirmed in 14 new counties, bringing to 50 the number with confirmed infestations.  The quarantine forbids the removal of ash trees, including firewood.
