• The Rockford Police Department is asking the public's help in identifying a suspect who robbed a Rockford gas station last night. Just after 9pm last night, the Mobil Gas Station in the 2500 block of Broadway was robbed by a white male who demanded money and was armed with a handgun. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Rockford Police Department.
  • Investigators are looking into the case of an early morning fire at a vacant house in Rockford.  It happened near Roosevelt Rd. and Collins St. When firefighters arrived on scene, the entire one-story home was burning.  Crews were able to put it out and no one was hurt.
  • A Rockford gas station was robbed by an armed man with a box cutter. Police responded to the Road Ranger gas station in the 3400 block of North Main Street on Sunday morning.  Officers say a suspect described as a Black male in his mid twenties around 6 ft. tall, and 150 pounds stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the store.  Witnesses say he fled Southbound on foot.
  • Gas prices have dropped to new recent  lows in the Stateline. According to GasBuddy.com, the price for gasoline fell about five cents in the past week.  The new average in the Forest City is now $3.13/g. However, the website is reporting several locations in the region are charging under $3/g at this point. Nationwide, drivers are paying on average $3.12/g.
  • The Belvidere School Board meets later this evening and they’re expected to ratify the new contract with the Belivedere Teachers. The union approved it last week after several sessions with a federal mediator, however it's not official until the board follows suit.
  • Early voting is underway in Illinois. People can cast their ballots from today through Nov. 2 at sites around the state. Early voting locations include libraries, village halls and community centers throughout the state. Elections Board says almost 381,000 people voted early in the November 2010 general election.
  • Governor Pat Quinn and Republican challenger Bruce Rauner are locked in a neck-and-neck contest for governor and are gearing up for another debate.  They'll debate tonight in an event being hosted by the League of Women Voters of Illinois. The 60-minute back-and-forth could be their last chance to make their case before a large television audience.
