  • A second victim has died in a DIxon car crash. The accident took place yesterday afternoon on Route 2 at Frontage Road. Our partners at Eyewitness news have learned that an SUV driven by 31 year-old Nicole Warner was traveling east on Route 2 when she crashed into 76 year-old John Brown at an intersection. Wagner was unable to avoid Brown. Brown and one of his passengers, 34 year-old Misty Noah also has died.
  • The Federal Aviation Administration has opened an investigation into a UPS plane's emergency landing at the Rockford airport. The plane was flying from California to Kentucky when the crew reported loss of hydraulics, which power equipment such as flight controls and landing gear.
  • The Rock Island county sheriff is resigning after pleading guilty to sending threatening text messages to a woman he met at a gym. Authorities say he has agreed to give up his pension as part of the plea deal. He’ll avoid jail time, but will spend a few years on probation.
  • A 71-year-old Rockford man has been found guilty of sexually abusing a child in 2007. Richard McClung was convicted yesterday in Winnebago County. McClung was arrested in 2011 after a girl told authorities he had abused her in August 2007.
  • The Rock County Sheriff’s Office has arrested nine people in a sweep of people wanted for various crimes in the city of Beloit. The sweep was conducted yesterday, with the Sheriff's Office reporting that deputies visiting 57 homes looking for people who were wanted for various drug crimes, disorderly conduct or disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, theft, contempt of court, and non-compliance of child support.
  • The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is urging bow hunters to report their wildlife observations online. The archery and crossbow deer seasons open tomorrow. The DNR is asking hunters to record all of their hunting activity and wildlife observations in a survey available on the agency's website.
  • A western Illinois sheriff accused of cyberstalking and threatening a woman he met at a gym resigned from office Thursday and agreed to withdraw from the November ballot. 48-year old Rock Island Sheriff Jeffery Boyd entered an Alford plea to charges of attempted misconduct, and will forfeit the pension he earned during his nearly four years as sheriff. Boyd was accused of using his position as sheriff to intimidate and threaten a woman he met at a Rock Island gym.
