• Today is the final day of the Rockford City Market for 2014.  But, organizers are promising it will an event to remember. Kids will get into the spirit of Halloween with a costume parade starting at 6pm.  Kids can also trick-or-treat with the vendors following the parade. Live music kicks off later this afternoon as well. The City Market goes 3pm-7pm.
  • The Rockford Police need the public's help to find a wanted man. 35-year-old Joseph Carter is wanted on four counts of burglary and one count of arson. Police believe he may be behind a series of burglaries to businesses in Rockford and Loves Park.  Additionally policing agencies in the Stateline are assisting in the search. Anyone with information is urged to call the Rockford Police.
  • A forest preserve district race has been omitted from thousands of ballots in Winnebago County, forcing election officials to spend $50,000 to fix the problem. A voter noticed the missing Forest Preserves of Winnebago County race yesterday. The mistake affects about 1,100 voters who used walk-in absentee ballots from October 6th to yesterday or sent in absentee by mail.
  • Illinois State Police say three people have died in a single-vehicle crash near Western Illinois University, in Macomb. Authorities say the wreck happened early Thursday. They say a Jeep driven by 21-year-old Gabrielle Yocum of Springfield went off the side of the road and hit a tree and an embankment. Yocum, as well as 23-year-old Cedric Huffman of Bushnell, and 21-year-old Cassie Roberts of Macomb all died in the wreck.
  • Members of the Illinois Legislature are set to discuss how a proposed eavesdropping law would affect police use of body cameras. The House Judiciary Committee will meet Friday morning in downtown Chicago. State Senator Kwame Raoul says it's important to talk about the use of cameras as lawmakers write eavesdropping legislation.
  • The Illinois Department of Employment Security says unemployment in the state continued to drop in September, falling to 6.6 percent. The slight drop from 6.7 percent in August was the seventh straight monthly decrease in state unemployment. The state's jobless rate has dropped from 9.2 percent in August 2013. But it still remains higher than the 5.9 percent national unemployment rate.
