Seriously, can it be July already?!

We have entered the time of the year when every broadcaster on the planet will make references to how cold it is outside. Yep, I'm guilty of it too.

We can't help it, it's cold... and we know that you completely agree with us. We relate.

Don't get me wrong, I love winter. I love the fact that when it snows, my husband can plow and make extra money. I love curling up in front of the fireplace and watching a good movie. I love seeing the snowmen the neighborhood kids make.

But winter is also the bane of my existence.

Here are 5 reasons why winter in Rockford is the absolute worst.

1. Intense Snowfall

You never know exactly how much you will get, but eventually inches and inches of the powdery white substance will land on top of your car and it will take you an hour to clear it all off. Which leads me to my next point...

2. Odd-Even Parking/Plowing

I'm sure there are many justifiable reasons that Rockford follows this parking/plowing rule, but I think it's just stupid. I have never, in my life, seen any other city do this. I can barely remember what day it is let alone remember to bring my car to the other side of the street for you to plow it. And guess what!? Nine times out of ten, I move my car and you still don't plow where you said you were going to plow. Which leads me to my next point...

3. Terrible Driving Conditions

I understand that main roads are a top priority for plowing. This happened on a main road! After being involved in a hit and run, then a trip to the hospital and recuperating from a concussion, all was well again. But man, ice and snow are not good to be driving in. Which leads me to my next point...

4. Ice

It's the ice that scares me the most. It never seems to melt. Where ever you go you will find ice, ice and more ice. I've fallen countless numbers of times. It still hurts. Which leads me to my next point...

5. It's TOO Cold

I've never minded the cold weather until I came to Rockford. There is something different here in Rockford. Is it the way the wind blows the air, is it because it's more north than I'm used to? I don't know exactly what it is but man is it cold!
