GALENA, Ill. (AP) --€” The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Department says four people were killed and another injured when two vehicles collided on U.S. Route 20 near Galena.

Authorities say 68-year-old Raymond Anger of Hanover was heading south on U.S. Route 20 when his pickup truck veered into the northbound lanes and slammed into a van driven by 61-year-old Walter Mercer. Both men were killed as were passengers in Mercer's van, 83-year-old Robert Fosdick and 85-year-old Patricia Fosdick of Savanna.

A fourth passenger in the van, 63-year-old Rhonda Mercer was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Laity said the two couples in the van were all related.
