Illinois Lottery unclaimed prizes

I totally understand those who don't have any interest in playing any lottery games, and the reasons they have for staying away from them. What I don't get are people who regularly play, but pay no attention to their ticket(s) afterwards.

$2.4 million in unclaimed Illinois Lottery jackpot winnings is just sitting around gathering dust while waiting to be claimed by the rightful winners, but the clock is definitely ticking.
