The Rockford Police Department is investigating an apparent drive-by shooting that left a 15-year-old girl dead and another man wounded on the city's west side..

According to a press release, officers responded to the 800 block of Lee Street early Friday morning after a report of a shooting victim. Upon arrival officers located two males and a female huddled around another female who was lying on the ground. The 15-year-old appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers report she had no pulse and was not breathing. Rockford Fire Department personnel then arrived on scene and pronounced the female victim deceased.

While speaking to the other three individuals a nineteen-year-old male admitted he also had been shot in the leg. He was transported to the hospital where he's being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police that unknown individuals fired upon the group from a moving dark gray or black minivan.
