Rockford Is Celebrating Women Golfers This Tuesday (And Giving Them a Sweet Deal)
A couple of weeks ago I told you that the future of Rockford's golf courses was in jeopardy. The Rockford Park District still needs to trim A LOT of money from their budget/operating costs, and letting go of more assets may be in the cards if Rockfordians don't step up and let officials know what we need and want from our park district.
The easiest way to let the Rockford Park District know what community assets are important to you is by actually using them, and this is especially important when it comes to District golf courses! The Park District is depending on Rockford's golfers to support them and to help make our courses profitable once again, and they are giving us a lot of fun opportunities to do just that.
Tomorrow, June 5, is National Women's Golf Day, so the Rockford Park District is offering a special green fee for ladies tomorrow afternoon at Sinnissippi Golf Course.
According to the Rockford Park District's News Brief;
Rockford Park District’s Sinnissippi Golf Course, 2004 Arlington Av., Rockford, IL invites ladies and the public to meet the Rockford women in golf in celebration of National Women’s Golf Day Tuesday, June 5, 2018, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. After 2 p.m. that day, all lady golfers will be given a $5 discount off green fees, which are regularly $10 per player at the nine-hole par 37 course.Groups of golfers are welcome, and Rockford Park District golf staff members Ann Bloomfield LPGA and Kelly Kuchelmeister GCSA will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on golf season memberships, lessons, leagues, and clinics.
If you don't want to see golf fees go up if the Rockford Park District is forced to sell off their courses, I suggest you make it a point to golf locally this summer AND be a part of the special events happening tomorrow at Sinnissippi Golf Course. I'm not just talking to the lady golfers here either...
