As your kids head back to school this week, maybe you can take an hour or so to donate blood to those who need it.

Anytime is a good time to donate blood, but it looks like right now would be the best time. According to MyStateline.com, the Rock River Valley Blood Center's blood stock is currently at dangerously low levels.

Summer is always a rough time for blood centers, since there is usually an increase of accidents and injuries.

Right now the center is looking for donations of any kind, but they are especially low in their supply of B-negative, O-positive, B-positive and A-negative.

Maybe this week or next if you find yourself with a few extra hours now that your kids are back in school, you can use those hours to donate blood and save three lives.
