Who knew that the folks at NASA had such a good sense of humor? From Buzz Aldrin doing goofy commercials about fetching a baseball from the moon to a celestial jack-o-lantern Halloween week.

So, back in 2014, NASA gets a really cool shot of the moon looking pretty much like a giant jack-o-lantern, posts it online, and now they do it every year on the week of Halloween, much to the delight of their Facebook followers.

NASA posted the photo on its Facebook page over the weekend, along with a link to download a high-resolution image of the photo. The post had several thousand shares as of this morning.

"Even our star celebrates the spooky season," the post says. "In 2014, active regions on the Sun created this jack-o'-lantern face, as seen in ultraviolet light by our Solar Dynamics Observatory satellite."
