
Illinois Authorities Investigate Death of Woman After Winnebago County Jail Incident
Illinois officials are investigating the death of a woman who was found unresponsive in the Winnebago County Jail.
Emergency Response After Inmate Found Unresponsive
According to a press release from the Winnebago County Coroner's Office, correctional officers discovered the body of a woman unresponsive in her cell at around 10:47 pm on Sunday (12/7).
Authorities say correctional staff and on-site medical personnel immediately began life-saving measures before the Rockford Fire Department responders arrived to continue resuscitation.
The inmate was identified as 30-year-old Miranda Joiner, according to the Winnebago County Coroner's Office. Joiner was transported to a local emergency department, where she was pronounced deceased at 11:27 pm.
Integrity Task Force Leading Investigation
The Winnebago County Coroner's Office and the WInnebago-Boone County Integrity Task Force have launched a joint investigation into Joiner's death.
No additional details have been released, and officials have not commented on the circumstances leading up to the medical emergency.
