The people of Northern Illinois have spoken...there is one Halloween candy that must NOT be placed in any trick-or-treat bags this Halloween.

Halloween Candy Choices

Full disclosure...I take my Halloween candy game pretty seriously.

I refuse to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters that I would not eat, and when my children receive less-than-appealing candy, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't judging the homeowners they got it from.

That being said, I understand most people don't care nearly as much as I do about the kinds of candy they hand out on Halloween and just buy what's on sale or cheapest at the store.  If you don't want to have your house TP'd or egged this Halloween thought, you might want to consider steering clear of these certain candy choices... especially if you live in Northern Illinois.

The Worst Halloween Candies According to Illinoisans

To make sure no mistakes are made when choosing what candies to buy this Halloween, we took a very important question to Facebook...

After browsing through the comments, I was shocked to see that Butterfingers and Smarties made the list, and I literally laughed out loud when I saw this comment...

Personally, I happen to enjoy Tootsie Rolls and Dots, but I do agree that this particular bag of candy tends to scream "I chose the biggest, cheapest option".

Now let's get down to business...what are the top five Halloween candies that Northern Illinois residents hate the most?

Let's start with the best of the worst...

5. Good and Plenty

I'm pretty sure Good & Plenty made the list due to the black licorice hiding inside the sweet candy shells, which brings us to the next most hated candy...

4. Black licorice

Black licorice not only tastes nasty, but eating too much of it is literally bad for your health because it contains glycyrrhizoc acid which leads to swelling, high blood pressure, and lowers potassium levels and electrolytes.

3. Peanut Butter Kisses

Some people call these orange and black wrapped taffy candies Peanut Butter Kisses, others call them Maryjanes, I just call them crap that tastes nothing like peanut butter.

2. Circus Peanuts

I'm pretty sure these orange, spongy peanuts are supposed to be a marshmallow treat, but I will never understand how anyone can actually enjoy them.

and the candy that Northern Illinois residents say should be banned from all trick-or-treat bags this Halloween is...

1. Candy Corn

My sweet tooth is off the charts bad, but even I agree that these waxy bits are entirely too sweet and should only be used for decoration and then thrown in the gabage.

Here's the way I see it...if the candy doesn't come in tiny bagged or "funsized" servings, it's because no one likes them and you definitely should NOT buy them to hand out on Halloween. End of story.

Now that we know the worst candies according to taste, let's get the the worst kind of candies according to dentists.
