A 911 call for gunshots fired over the weekend quickly turned into the arrest of several individuals, according to a Rockford PD press release.

According to the report, Rockford Police officers responded to a call of shots fired on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at approximately 9:40 p.m., in the 3000 block of Horton Street.

The investigation led to the recovery of two loaded firearms and the arrest of three individuals, including a convicted felon.

Police Recover Stolen Firearms and Arrest Three Individuals

Officers from the Rockford Police Department’s SCOPE unit discovered two loaded handguns at the scene.

One firearm was equipped with a laser, an extended magazine, an automatic switch, and had been reported stolen from Dubuque, Iowa.

The second firearm featured a flashlight attachment, according to the report.

Two 17-year-old males from Rockford were taken into custody and lodged in Juvenile Detention. Additionally, Michael Hendricks, 33, of Rockford, was arrested and booked into the County Jail.

Charges Filed Against the Suspects

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and approved multiple charges against the suspects. The charges include:

  • Juvenile Male, 17, Rockford: Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and two counts of No Valid FOID.
  • Juvenile Male, 17, Rockford: No Valid FOID, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (prior case), and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (prior case).
  • Michael Hendricks, 33, Rockford: Possession of a Machine Gun by a Felon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and Possession of a Firearm by a Repeat Felony Offender.
