Travel Just Got Easier: Rockford Airport Adding Shuttle to O’Hare
If you live in the Rockford area and have a flight booked this fall leaving from O'Hare, you'll love this new service coming soon to Chicago Rockford International Airport!
Air Travel Hassles
As a person who hates long car drives, air travel is wonderful, but it does come with its own specific set of headaches like:
- Long lines at TSA checkpoints and baggage check-ins.
- Figuring out how to get to and from the airport.
- Expensive airport parking fees.
Every time I have to fly somewhere, I wish there was a service available that would make all those hassles easier to deal with, and soon there will be at Chicago Rockford International Airport.
New Airport Shuttle Coming to Chicago Rockford International Airport
As a life-long Rockford resident, I love seeing how much RFD airport has grown over the last decade. New travel destinations are being announced every year, but this recent announcement has me the most excited:
More and more people may be utilizing the Chicago Rockford International Airport for their air travel needs every year, but one thing's for sure: the process is ten times easier at RFD than it is at other major airports, especially O'Hare!

Here’s how American Airlines’ new motorcoach service from RFD will work, according to the airport’s website:
- Mobile check-in: Check in for your trip 24 hours before your departure from RFD, just like a flight.
- Security and Check-in: Head to the airport, check your bags, and clear security.
- Boarding: Board the motorcoach and enjoy the ride to the hub.
- Connect to Flight: Go to your connecting gate at ORD and board your next flight. Your checked baggage will automatically be transferred to your next flight
Starting October 20, 2025, there will be five motorcoach departures per day from RFD and O'Hare for American Airlines' customers to take advantage of, so start making those Fall travel plans now!
