
Major Snow Forecasted for Illinois, Wisconsin in Next 12 Days
The latest forecasts from the Weather Channel are predicting a massive amount of snow for the Rockford region beginning the weekend after Thanksgiving.
Mild Weekend Heading Into Thanksgiving Week
Temperatures are expected to be in the lower to mid-50s for Rockford this weekend, according to the Weather Channel, with a minimal chance of rain and mostly sunny conditions.

Rain is in the forecast next Monday (11/24), with a 60 percent chance of afternoon showers, and highs in the lower 50s to begin Thanksgiving week.
Lows will drop into the 20s on Tuesday night (11/25), and highs on Wednesday (11/26) are forecast to be in the mid-30s, but minimal chance of precipitation.
For Thanksgiving Day (11/27), it will be mostly sunny, but the high will be around 32 degrees, and the low on Thursday night will drop to 20.
Weather Pattern Change and Timing
According to the extended forecast from the Weather Channel, a late-November snowstorm is trending on many of the weather models, with the most likely window for heavier snow the weekend following Thanksgiving.
If the current pattern holds, Rockford and Chicago snowfall totals could be more than 3 inches a day for several days in a row. But keep checking the updated forecast HERE, because it's changing by the hour.
Forecast Predicts Snow Starts Saturday After Thanksgiving
With Stroll on State set for Saturday, November 29, in Rockford, and many other villages in the Stateline having their holiday parades and events the weekend after Thanksgiving, snowfall may just add to the Christmas spirit.
The Weather Channel is predicting snow showers to begin late on Saturday night (11/29), with about an inch of snow expected. Sunday (11/30) will begin with a rain/snow mix, but turn to all snow in the evening, with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation expected by Sunday night in the Rockford region.
For the first day of December (Monday 12/1), a rain/snow mix in the morning will transition to all snow by the afternoon, with 2 to 4 inches expected by Monday night. Snow showers continue into Tuesday (12/2), with a couple more inches of snow expected to accumulate.
Another 50 percent chance of snow showers is in the forecast for Wednesday, December 3, where 1 to 3 more inches are expected in Rockford, according to the current Weather Channel computer models.
Forecast Predicts 20 Inches of Snow for Southwest Wisconsin
The extended forecast for Janesville and Madison, Wisconsin, is showing even higher snow accumulation totals for the first week of December.
According to the 10-Day Weather Channel forecast, snow showers begin the Saturday after Thanksgiving (11/29), with an inch of accumulation expected.

On Sunday (11/30), November ends with 2 to 4 inches of snow, and continues into Monday, December 1, when 4 to 8 inches of snow are in the forecast.
2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation is also predicted on Tuesday (12/2), and Wednesday (12/3), before snow showers taper off by midday on Thursday, December 4.
