Illinois and Wisconsin’s Official Summer 2024 Weather Forecast
I reached into my overalls today and pulled out a copy of the Farmers Almanac that I keep handy and noticed that Summer will officially begin with "the solstice on Thursday, June 20, 2024, marking the astronomical first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere."

So we've been experiencing several days of brutal heat in the 90s and it isn't even officially summertime weather yet?
Official Summer Forecast for Illinois and Wisconsin is Hot
Looking at just the extended 10-day forecast from the Weather Channel, the first week of Summer starts with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s and lower 90s through next Tuesday (6/25).
The Official Summer 2024 Forecast from Direct Weather posted on their YouTube channel is predicting even more days with high heat for northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin.
"Extreme Heat" is what the entire Stateline is covered with on the forecast map from Direct Weather and their weather forecaster said he expects our part of the Midwest to have multiple heat waves and said it could likely be a "nasty, very hot Summer."
Temperatures through the Summer are also being forecast to be "above average" in the Rockford region, so instead of mid-80s, we'll be likely spending more time hitting the upper 80s and lower 90s.
Summer Forecast for Illinois and Wisconsin Predicts More Storms
Besides having the extreme heat, our region will be "very stormy" according to the forecast from Direct Weather.
Above-average precipitation is also predicted in the Summer Forecast for all of northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin.
