Is It Too Early to Decorate for Christmas?

I am 100 percent the person chomping at the bit to start putting up my Christmas trees and decorations on November 1. But I just cannot allow myself to do it.

First, there is the issue of Thanksgiving. It may not be my favorite holiday, but it is my husband's, and the turkey decorations deserve their time to shine too.

Secondly, there's the anticipation of Christmas. I love the feelings of joy and beauty that come with the holiday season, and having my home all aglow in lights. If I put up my decorations too early will I become numb to the feelings when the season truly arrives? I'm not willing to take the chance.

Thirdly, there's the rushing in of winter. The month of November can be all over the place weather wise. It can start mild and then be a winter wonderland the next day. I worry that having snowflakes and snowmen up in our homes too early may invite the snow, and that could be exactly what happens this weekend.
