The Basset Hound Club of America has chosen to hold its 2022 National Specialty in Rockford, Illinois, and the theme couldn't be more perfect; "The Basset Hound - In a League Of Their Own".

I don't know who at the BHCA is responsible for coming up with that particular theme, but I want to give them a huge round of applause for not only choosing Rockford as the venue for their Nationals events but also for acknowledging one of our city's major claims to fame in such a creative way!

BHCA Nationals Events Throughout Rockford

From Thursday, September 29 through October Friday, October 7, 2022, over 175 cute and loving Basset Hounds will be competing in several events like tracking, hunting, agility, and sniffing tests all throughout the Stateline area, and you can bring your family to watch all the action (and fun) for free!

Most of the events will take place at MercyHealth Sportscore 2 in Loves Park, but others will take place at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Forest City Dog Training in Loves Park, and even Alpine Hills Park in Rockford. (See the full events schedule here).

Basset Fun Day

This Saturday, October 1, 2022, will feature a Basset Fun Day at MercyHealth Sportscore 2. While it is unclear if you can bring your own Basset Hound along for the fun (if you are not a member of the Basset Hound Club of America), it sure would be a great way to meet other Basset-loving folks and just soak up all the sweetness and doggy kisses.

If you plan on going to any of these Basset Hound Club of America Nationals events, please make sure to wear your Rockford Peaches gear and show them how proud we are of our hometown team!
