What To Do With Your Leftover Pumpkins After Halloween
October was fun, but Halloween is now so over, so what do you do with those leftover pumpkins? Here are some ideas to help you dispose of those jack-o'-lanterns properly in Wisconsin.
How To Properly Dispose Of All Of Those Pumpkins After Halloween?
Taking out the garbage in Wisconsin can be very confusing. Which way do you bring it down to the curb? You've got the regular can that is headed to the landfill. There's recycling. Don't forget about the yard waste bags. It's so easy to put your trash in the wrong container.

In October, you bought a pumpkin and carved it into some fancy jack-o-lantern. Halloween is over, and we've moved into November, so what's the best way to toss out your pumpkin without violating any laws? I'm lucky because the squirrels usually eat mine.
You definitely do not want to just throw it into the garbage. It will take up a lot of room in a landfill and create greenhouse gases. One suggestion is to cook it. If you're not a baker, there might be a charity that will take it. Another good thing to do with it is to put it on a compost pile.

According to the Wisconsin Department Of Natural Resources
Wisconsin law prohibits landfill disposal of yard materials (also called "yard waste"), including leaves, grass clippings, brush, and pieces of wood (branches, sticks, etc.) under 6 inches in diameter.
Composting is an easy, inexpensive alternative to landfills that puts these resources to use instead of simply throwing them away.
Compost made from yard materials and other organics, like food scraps, can replenish soil with microorganisms and nutrients.
