Crime has become a serious problem in Illinois, and leading the way is theft. Thieves will steal anything that isn't nailed down. They would probably bring tools so they could steal that too. You can't leave valuable stuff out in the open, or it's gone.

I was thinking about how difficult it would be to work at a store. You would have to be alert at all times, or you're going to be losing inventory very quickly. Working as a police officer is even harder because you have to track down the criminals.

Officers answered a call on April 10 about a retail theft at a business in the 10300 block of South Harlem Avenue.

Here's what happened with this incident. Four people walked into a store together and asked to use the restroom. That's a big red flag right there. How could they all go at the same time? Normally, customers would take turns.

Then the suspects wandered to the back of the store. They approached the coolers. Each one of them grabbed something. The thieves ended up taking three cases of Modelo beer and a bottle of wine. Then they took off with the stolen alcohol.

Witnesses say they saw the four walking towards a shady motel across the street. Sounds like someone was going to host a party.
