March is a fun time in Illinois. We're moving from winter to spring. There are some popular party holidays including one of the biggest of the year, St. Patrick's Day. Our state really knows how to throw a party, especially around March 17th.

Some residents let the party get the best of them. The St. Patrick's Day celebration can last for days. They mean well, but sometimes the good time outweighs the ability to make good decisions. That can get you into serious trouble with the law.

The police departments throughout Illinois are stepping up their patrols now through March 18th. They're trying to keep everyone safe during the St. Patrick's Day holiday. The cops will be looking for impaired drivers and other violations.

I know some people get mad when the police publicize the extra patrols during holidays, but I believe it's a good reminder for people to remember to do the right thing and make good decisions so they don't get arrested or hurt anyone.
