A couple of major movie theater chains have announced a multi-billion dollar upgrade and I hope Rockford makes the list.

Will Rockford Make The Cut For Movie Theater Upgrades?

I'm a huge fan of watching movies. There was a time many years ago when I didn't have cable or satellite and it was before streaming services. I would just rent flicks to watch. It kept me entertained.

My favorite way to experience movies on the big screen at a nice theater. That's how they were made to be enjoyed. Unfortunately, it has gotten expensive to go to the show. You've got to really pick and choose where you're going to spend your money.

When I first moved to Rockford, the movie situation wasn't great. There were several theaters but they were older and not in great shape. It was very exciting when AMC announced they were opening a couple of facilities here.

At the time, those theaters were state-of-the-art and a great place to watch a movie. Unfortunately, they haven't had any sort of upgrade since they opened. The ones here in town are dumps. I avoid them at all costs. I much rather go to Beloit to see a film.

Recently, there was a big announcement for the major theater chains in the United States including Illinois. AMC was part of that group which released some info about a $2.2 billion planned update for many buildings across the country.

That's great news but that leaves the important question. Will the AMC theaters in Rockford be included in the renovations? I sure hope so because, without it, I don't know if they could survive here. Hopefully, they will announce soon.
