Reason To Not Rake Leaves In Illinois
I will proudly admit that I hate doing chores around the house. I work a lot so when I'm home, I just want to relax. Of course, that isn't possible because I want to keep my house nice. I especially hate doing the work around the yard. I believe the main reason is my allergies act up when I'm in that situation.

Out of all the outdoor chores, I think my least favorite is raking leaves. It's so much work then a couple of hours later your yard is covered again. That's so frustrating. I much prefer the method of the wind blowing them into my neighbor's yard so it becomes their problem instead.
I couldn't imagine living in one of those communities where they force you to pick up your leaves otherwise you get fined. That is somewhere I don't want to live. When I was a kid, we used to walk around the neighborhood and jump into the big piles of leaves in people's yards. That would immediately ruin all that hard work. I would be so angry if that happened to me.
If you're like me and a hater of raking leaves, I've got some great news for you. Experts in Illinois are encouraging residents to not rake their leaves this fall because it's bad for the environment. I can definitely go along with that opinion. Back in the day, my parents would've laughed in my face if I gave them that excuse.
It is actually better for your lawn to not rake your leaves. If you can't stand the look of them, run over them with your mower because that makes perfect mulch. Experts also suggest not raking your leaves onto the road. They can block storm sewers and cause flooding. Plus, it's not good for leaves to get into our water system.
