Did You Know Rockford Has 6th Largest YMCA in America?

I was today years old when I found out Rockford has one of the biggest YMCA facilities in the entire country!  Did you know that?

My sister and mom just signed up for a YMCA membership in downtown Rockford, so it's only a matter of time I join them at the gym!  While they were learning all about that location, they were surprised to hear the SwedishAmerican Riverfront YMCA, that's by Sinnissippi Park, is the 6th largest location in the United States.

To put it into perspective, there are only 2,700 YMCA branches around the country... and we are in the top percentile with one of the largest spaces?! That's cool.

"The SwedishAmerican Riverfront YMCA has a long rich history in the Rockford Community.  This particular branch is noted as the 6th largest YMCA facility in the United States - featuring more than 160,000 square feet of building space on 3 floors.  The YMCA facility is seated on the Rock River and includes 15 acres of river front property in partnership with the Rockford Park District." Just a few days ago, the new Fitness Center opened inside, too.  It's a two-story, 9,000-square-foot addition that has doubled the size of the fitness center.

With mostly new equipment, here's just a glance of what they provide:

• A functional training space
• Additional plate-loaded equipment
• Squat racks with bumper plates & platforms

Not every one can say they workout at one of the largest and best YMCAs in the country.  Except us!  Sounds... exclusive and fancy!

My sister and mom have loved going to the Y so far and don't plan on leaving any time soon!  My mom loves aquatic workouts and the Y has three pools, so that's already a win-win for her.  What gym is your favorite in the Rockford area?
