Illinois Residents Can Now Apply to Drive the Iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile
If you’ve ever dreamed of cruising down the highway inside a giant hot dog, Oscar Mayer just opened the bun. The company is hiring 12 new Hotdoggers for a year-long adventure behind the wheel of the legendary Wienermobile — a job that blends travel, PR, content creation, and pure, American-roadside joy.
What the Hotdogger Job Actually Is

Hotdoggers spend one full year representing Oscar Mayer across the country, visiting 30+ states, hosting hundreds of events, and making media appearances. They’re the friendly faces who “meat and greet” fans, pitch segments to local news outlets, and create social content from the road. Think of it as running your own traveling PR firm… on wheels shaped like a 27-foot hot dog.
How the Program Started
Launched in 1988, the Hotdogger Program was created to develop future leaders, people who embody creativity, innovation, and community spirit. The Wienermobile itself dates back to 1936 and has become an eight-country, movie-appearing, joy-delivering American icon.
Who They’re Looking For
Ideal candidates are outgoing, creative, positive, organized, and social-media savvy. A bachelor’s degree is required (communications, PR, journalism, marketing, etc. preferred), along with a valid driver’s license, the ability to travel year-round, and the willingness to spend many nights in hotels. Bilingual applicants are encouraged.
What Hotdoggers Get
The one-year assignment includes a $35,600 salary, a $150 weekly travel allowance, 18 PTO days, full health benefits, and 100% covered hotels. Plus, stories you’ll dine out on for decades.
