Millions of stainless steel travel mugs sold by Stanley have been recalled after the company reported dozens of burn injuries linked to faulty lids.

Before you add a bow to that Stanley you bought for a Christmas gift, check twice and see if the one you purchased is on the "recall" list.

Over the last year, Stanley has gained an entirely new audience and fanbase after going viral on TikTok and other social media platforms.  Will this recall affect their sales?

Recalled Stanley Cups Sold In Illinois: Did Yours Make The List?

According to Stanley, there are two types of mugs being recalled: the Switchback and Trigger Action double-walled mugs. Nearly 2.6 million of them!

If these specific travel mugs' lids are exposed to too much heat, the lids could fall off "posing a burn hazard" to fans, according to the CPSC.

"The 12- and 16-ounce varieties of the Switchback mugs have been recalled, while the 12-,16- and 20-ounce varieties of the Trigger Action mugs have been recalled. They were priced between $20 and $50, and sold at major retailers like Amazon, Walmart and Target from June 2016 through this month." [npr]

There are a few color varieties; white, black and green, in 12 oz., 16 oz. and 20 oz. sizes with a polypropylene lid.
