Historic Wisconsin Supper Club Lost After Overnight Fire
The Rock County community is mourning after a fire destroyed one of its most familiar gathering places. The Lake House Inn, a longtime supper club near Edgerton, Wisconsin, was completely lost to an overnight fire late Sunday.
According to WMTV15 News, deputies with the Rock County Sheriff’s Office said fire crews were dispatched around 8:30 p.m. Sunday to a structure fire on East Hotel Drive. When crews arrived, the business was already fully engulfed in flames. Authorities confirmed the restaurant was closed at the time of the fire.
A Confirmed Loss for the Community
By Monday morning, the Lake House Inn confirmed the news in a Facebook post, writing that the business would be closed until further notice due to a structural fire. The message thanked the community for its kindness and support during what they described as a difficult time.
Fire crews later deemed the building a total loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
More Than a Restaurant
As WIFR reported, the building carried generations of history tied closely to the area surrounding Lake Koshkonong. What began as a home near an early settlement eventually became a hotel, then evolved into a classic Wisconsin supper club.
