There Are Way Too Many Of These In Rockford – Change My Mind

If you’ve ever driven around Rockford, you might have noticed a lot of these popping up.  Why are there car washes everywhere you turn?

It’s as if we’ve stepped into a world straight out of Breaking Bad, where washing a car has taken on a whole new meaning.  We can't escape it!

Seriously, how many car washes does one city need?

I remember when Rainstorm Car Wash opened on E State Street—the line was insane.  Cars flooded into the street on opening day.  It's also the first one I'd ever seen with free vacuums!  That was a game-changer for residents, a perk we didn't know we needed.

If you Google "Car Washes in Rockford" you'll find at least 14 in the area.  That's a lot!

Just last week, I drove out to Machesney Park and two new car washes were under construction across the street from each other.  Tell me why.  WHY?

Are that many people really getting washes, cleaning their cars, and buying monthly subscriptions to keep their babies clean?  I guess I'm not a huge car enthusiast so I wouldn't know.

Next time you’re out and about in Rockford, take a moment to count how many car washes you pass by.  It's better than having empty lots and abandoned buildings, though.

If there's one thing Rockford needs more of.... it's not car washes.  You can't change my mind on that one.
