Recall Alert: Broccoli Bags Pulled in Illinois and Beyond
If you planned to start eating healthy in 2025, hold off for a second.
Then again, maybe you're just like me, looking for a reason not to eat broccoli.
This time, however, there is a good reason to pitch the broccoli before grabbing a handful.
BIG BROCCOLI RECALL HAPPENING NOW
That's because bags of Marketside Broccoli Florets sold at Walmart stores in Illinois and 19 other states have been recalled due to potential listeria contamination.
If that's not enough reason to reach for a chocolate bar, I don't know what it is.
The recall affects 12-ounce bags with a "best if used by" date of December 10, 2024, with the UPC 6 81131 32883 5 and lot code BFFG327A6.
Although the broccoli is well past its expiration date and no illnesses have been reported thus far, customers have been urged to toss any remaining bags of the stuff straight in the trash.
Listeria can cause all sorts of serious illnesses, particularly for people who are pregnant, older adults, and those who are immunocompromised.
Symptoms range from fever and muscle aches to much more severe complications.
