Popular Illinois Amusement Park Brings Back Chaperone Policy Now
Kids aren't going to run as amok at Six Flags Great America.
We've all seen kids run wild and wondered where their parents are. Now, a chaperone policy is coming back at a beloved Six Flags park in Gurnee.
Basically, kids who are 15 or younger have to be accompanied by an adult who is at least 21.
The policy will be in effect all day July 17th-July 20th. Then after the 20th, the chaperone policy will be in effect from 5:00 p.m.-close. It's for both Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor.
As for the chaperones, they will have to present a valid government-issued ID and they can chaperone no more than 10 kids who are 15 or under. And they have to be reachable by phone at all times.
Here's the policy as posted by the park on their Facebook:
There's no word on what exactly made them reinstate the chaperone policy, but it does come one week after shots were fired in the park's parking lot, according to NBC Chicago. It does apply to all guests: season ticket holders, one-day ticket buyers, etc.
It hasn't been too long since Six Flags Great America's chaperone policy was last in place. Last fall, they had something similar for their popular Fright Fest event.
Kids who are 15 or younger and found alone in the park are 'subject to removal', as the park states.
The Gurnee park isn't alone in implementing this. Multiple Six Flags locations have the same policy, including Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags St. Louis.
