A dramatic video is making the rounds on social media.

A concrete grain silo collapsed in Martinton, Illinois this week, according to WICS. No one was injured on the Wednesday collapse but it was caught on camera.

The collapse happened after an ambulance crew had spotted a bulge on the north side of the silo earlier that day. Recognizing the danger, Martinton Fire Chief Jeff Meyer called in help from Martinton, Papineau, and Watseka to evacuate workers from the area and set up a safety perimeter.

The structure was soon evacuated and collapsed 2 hours later.

It had been full of about 30,000 bushels of soybeans. Crews had just finished cleaning the area when it collapsed (of course, great timing).

Power was knocked out to the area as some of the collapse fell on power lines. It was restored later Wednesday night after utility company Ameren fixed the lines.

Luckily, no injuries were reported in the collapse but it was caught on video by several Facebook users.

Meyer said in a statement:

Thanks to the observant eye of the ambulance personnel at the original call, we were able to evacuate and secure the area around the silo. This action certainly prevented what may have been life-threatening injuries or even fatalities.

The collapse happened at 12:52 p.m. on Wednesday and streets near the area remained closed through the night so the grain and debris could be cleaned up. There's no word yet on rebuilding the silo.
