What else would you expect really? It's not like Illinois isn't accustomed to winters with a lot of snow and cold conditions, but the new Farmer's Almanac prediction says the upcoming winter will be brutal for Illinois in particular.

I will say that there's a part of me that feels like it's a little too early to be talking about winter yet Farmer's Almanac already has their extended forecast looking at what they believe the upcoming late 2024/early 2025 weather will be like for Illinois. Based on their prediction, I have 3 words for you.

Cold, Wet & White. Nice. But wait, there's more. They say the "season’s coldest temperatures will be found from the Northern Plains to the Great Lakes region". Looking at you, Illinois. Above-average precipitation and they point to the end of January as the biggest trouble spot for the entire winter for Illinois. There is a weather pattern they see developing that will plunge Illinois into the sub-zero range with a chill unlike any seen in recent memory. Make friends with your furnace now while there's still time.

Why is Farmer's Almanac saying Illinois' winter will be so brutal?
